Agitation Resources

Small Batch Mixers

ATM Group

The ATM Group is Agitation Resources’ line of mixers for totes, drums and other smaller process vessels. These systems support low volume production, specialty chemical formulations, material preparation and repeatable batch processing in defined tote or drum geometries. The impeller, shaft and operating speed are selected for the vessel geometry, working volume, fluid properties and required mixing objective. A properly specified tote or drum mixer can provide the required circulation without applying unnecessary shear or power to the batch.

Process Adaptability and Shear Control

Tote and drum mixers can be configured for standard or custom tote bridges, drum lids, vessel openings, mounting requirements and fluid properties. Depending on the application, units may use fixed or variable speed operation and can be supplied with impellers selected for axial flow, radial flow or dispersion. Wetted materials and surface finishes are selected for chemical compatibility and the customer’s cleaning requirements. Where frequent product changes are expected, removable shafts and impellers can improve access for cleaning and inspection.

Mechanical Construction and Maintenance

Tote and drum mixers use the same mechanical design considerations as larger agitation systems, scaled for the vessel and process duty. Motors, reducers, bearings, shafts and mounting components are selected for the required torque, speed and operating cycle, with bearing assemblies selected for a calculated L10 life. Because these units are typically moved between containers as batches change, the mounting interface is sized to the specific tote bridge, drum lid or vessel opening in service. Removable shafts and impellers reduce changeover and cleaning time between product runs. Final construction details are determined by the tote or drum dimensions, process conditions and site requirements.
